music elective programme
The Music Elective Programme (MEP) is a special
programme offered by the Ministry of Education to
provide opportunities for students with an aptitude for
music to pursue a deeper study in music listening and
music making.
The objective of the RGS MEP is to equip young
musicians with musical knowledge to support performance
and any other musical endeavours they may embark on
after leaving school. The programme is targeted at
developing in our young musicians a diverse range of
musical skills, and in the process, nurture the
appreciation of music as knowledge and understanding
deepens through scholarship. In addition, the students
are nurtured to understand music in the broader social
context, by developing their artistic sensitivity
through providing experiences in the musical traditions
of a variety of different cultures.
